| Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation: Collect: Serum separator tube. Specimen Preparation: Separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer 1 mL serum to an RDL Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.4 mL) Also acceptable: CSF or pleural fluid (centrifuge and separate to remove cellular material). Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. Stability: After separation from cells: Ambient: 8 hours; Refrigerated: 8 days; Frozen: 1 year (if frozen within 24 hours). Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Ambient: 8 hour sample prep time. |
