| Specimen Required: | Patient Preparation:Patient should fast overnight prior to collection (or at least 4 hours after a meal). Non-fasting specimens are acceptable for pediatric patients. Collect:Green (sodium heparin). Also acceptable: Lavender (EDTA) or green (lithium heparin). Specimen Preparation:Separate plasma from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer 2 mL plasma to an RDL Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.25 mL) Storage/Transport Temperature:Frozen. Also acceptable: Refrigerated. Stability:Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: 1 month |
