Specimen Required: Patient Preparation:
Collect:Serum separator tube. Also acceptable: Lavender (EDTA), pink (K2EDTA), or green (sodium or lithium heparin).
Specimen Preparation:Allow serum tube to sit for 15-20 minutes at room temperature for proper clot formation. Centrifuge and separate serum or plasma from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer 0.5 mL serum or plasma to an RDL Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.3 mL)
Storage/Transport Temperature:Frozen.
Stability:After separation from cells: Ambient: 8 hours; Refrigerated: 72 hours; Frozen: 3 months
