Specimen Required: Patient Preparation:
Collect:Serum separator tube. "Post" specimen should be drawn 30 days after immunization.
Specimen Preparation:Separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer 1 mL serum to an RDL Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.2 mL) "Pre" and "post" vaccine specimens can be submitted separately or together for testing; if shipped separately, "post" specimen must be received within 60 days of "pre" specimen. Mark specimens clearly as "Pre-Vaccine" or "Post-Vaccine".
Storage/Transport Temperature:Refrigerated.
Stability:After separation from cells: Ambient: 48 hours; Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 1 year (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles)
